Southern Cross North Harbour Hospital is the only private surgical in-patient hospital on the Auckland’s North Shore. North Harbour Hospital has 8 Operating Rooms, a 14 bed Post Anaesthetic Care Unit, a modern well-equipped day stay facility unit and a 70-bed ward which includes a 4-bed intermediate care facility (ICF). 

Surgical specialities include General Surgery, Gynaecology, Oral & Maxillofacial surgery, Urology, Orthopaedic surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive surgery, Urology, Otolaryngology and Robotic Surgery. In addition to the hospital, the broader North Shore campus is also home to a purpose-built endoscopy suite, on-site cardiology services, cancer care, pharmacy, sports medicine, radiology and more.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We’re excited to welcome a fantastic Anaesthetic Technician to our dynamic perioperative team. In this vital role, you’ll work side by side with Anaesthetists to deliver safe, high-quality anaesthetic care and ensure every patient’s surgical journey runs smoothly from start to finish.

Based at the heart of the operating theatre, you’ll combine technical expertise with genuine compassion, providing care in a culturally responsive environment that puts patients and whānau first. You’ll be part of a supportive, high-performing team where collaboration, trust, and shared purpose are key, and where your contribution truly matters.

This is a permanent role, working rostered shifts, with 0.8 - 1.0 FTE available. 

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • Current NZ registration as an Anaesthetic Technician with a recognised qualification, OR a Registered Nurse with a current practising certificate and anaesthetic credentials
  • Strong, up-to-date knowledge of perioperative anaesthetic technology and best practice
  • Confident delivering safe, high-quality care in a fast-paced surgical environment
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-first approach
  • A positive, proactive mindset and genuine commitment to exceptional patient care
  • Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Flexibility to work rostered shifts
