Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
We are looking for an exceptional Patient Services Manager to lead the delivery of outstanding patient care and operational excellence at Ormiston Hospital. In this pivotal role, you will oversee key services including inpatient care, pre-operative assessment, patient administration, bookings, and reception - ensuring a seamless, high-quality experience for every patient. As a senior clinical leader, you will bring your nursing expertise to the Executive Leadership Team, working closely with clinical and operational leaders to ensure the right staffing, capability, and care standards are in place to meet patient needs.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will play a critical role in shaping the hospital’s strategic direction, driving service growth, and maintaining Ormiston’s reputation for clinical excellence. You will foster a high-performing, patient-centred culture, champion continuous improvement, and lead initiatives that enhance both patient outcomes and operational efficiency. From leading workforce planning and service delivery to strengthening clinical governance, quality, and risk practices, you will ensure the hospital consistently delivers safe, effective, and future-focused care.

This is a full-time permanent role based in our Ormiston Hospital.
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
- Proven leadership experience (5+ years) in operational management within a surgical hospital or complex healthcare environment
- Registered Nurse in New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
- Strong clinical background with hands-on experience in surgical care and managing high-pressure or emergency situations
- Demonstrated success leading, developing, and inspiring high-performing teams
- Experience driving quality, infection prevention, and risk management practices within a healthcare setting
- Sound understanding of private hospital operations and delivering safe, efficient, patient-centred services
- Confidence in managing clinical incidents, making critical decisions, and navigating complex challenges
- Tertiary qualification in health, business, or a related field; postgraduate qualifications (e.g. Master’s) highly regarded
- Advanced communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
- A calm, resilient, and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to perform under pressure
- Strong organisational, project, and time management capability, with a focus on achieving results
- A collaborative leadership style that fosters engagement, accountability, and a positive team culture
- A continuous improvement mindset, with the drive to lead change and enhance patient outcomes
