Procurement Category Manager - (12 Month FTC)

National Support Office

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

As our Procurement Category Manager, you’ll play a key role in shaping procurement strategy across Southern Cross Healthcare’s national hospital network, supporting 10 wholly owned hospitals, six joint venture hospitals, and six specialist centres across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Acting as a trusted partner to clinical leaders, operational teams, and senior stakeholders, you’ll drive strategic sourcing outcomes that deliver value, manage risk, and support high-quality healthcare delivery.

This is a role for a commercially minded procurement professional who thrives on turning strategy into tangible results. You’ll lead category management and sourcing activity across allocated medical categories, developing category strategies, running market engagements, negotiating supplier agreements, and ensuring contracts deliver measurable value and performance for our hospitals.

We will need you to bring strong market insight and commercial judgement to supplier relationships and procurement initiatives. You’ll analyse market dynamics, manage key supplier partnerships, and collaborate with teams internally to deliver sustainable savings and operational improvements.

Working across a complex healthcare environment, you’ll help strengthen supplier performance, optimise procurement processes, and contribute to a procurement function focused on long-term strategic value for Southern Cross Healthcare.

This is a 12-month fixed term role based at our National Support Office in Auckland CBD.
