Southern Cross Brightside Hospital in Epsom, Auckland has 33 in-patient beds and 6 day-stay chairs. Surgical specialities include Orthopaedics, Urology, Gynaecology, General Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Otolaryngology.   

Our hospital features an intermediate care facility, a specialised post-operative ward for patients with medical conditions or surgical issues that require an enhanced level of monitoring and care. The beds are equipped to support invasive monitoring, medical infusions, and a 24-hour monitoring service, with specialised nurses with the knowledge and skills to deliver a more sophisticated level of care as required.  

Credentialled practitioners and their patients have access to four advanced operating theatres, with special features such as a visual/digital theatre, laminar flow and state-of-the-art theatre equipment. Each of these theatres is supported by the latest sterilisation and anaesthetic technologies and systems. 

 

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

Southern Cross’ Brightside hospital is looking for 2 experienced Registered Nurses to join the team. Brightside is a modern, private 33 bedded facility. We have 3 beds in our intermediate care facility, which is a specialized post-operative ward for patients with medical conditions or surgical issues that require an enhanced level of monitoring and care.  

We offer a wide range of surgical services and post-operative care to around 4,500 patients each year. The surgical services provided include Urology, Orthopeadics, General, Gynae, Plastics, ENT and Robotic elective surgeries.  We are looking for competent nurses with good interpersonal skills to deliver safe quality pre and post operative care to patients in the admissions/day stay unit and ward. This also involves liaising with multidisciplinary team comprising of specialists, nurses, healthcare assistants, physiotherapist and pharmacists   to ensure holistic patient care.

  

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • A current NZ practicing certificate  
  • Surgical nursing experience is preferable however strong candidates from other nursing specialties with a commitment to learning new skills will be considered. 
  • Competent level 2 PDRP or equivalent 
  • A minimum of 2 years' post-registration working experience 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proactive positive attitude  
  • Actively promotes culturally safe clinical practice and the integration of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi into the provision of patient care
